Shruti Appiah

Shruti Appiah is a research-focused product manager with a background in simulation engineering. She built some of the earliest multi-agent simulations of economic systems operating on smart contracts in 2016. She was a founding member of Consensys Labs, the company’s venture studio. Shruti also set up and led the decentralized identity initiative at Okta, which resulted in a $50m venture program to fund blockchain-based identity start-ups. As an engineer, she designed and built a computer vision system for semi-autonomous robots that were used to remove landmines. Shruti has been identified as one of Canada’s top 30 developers under 30. She graduated in systems design engineering from the University of Waterloo and has attended Santa Fe Institute’s complex systems summer school. She joined IOHK in 2020.
